The movie Gone Baby Gone presents two really strong moral dilemmas. Presenting it in ethical principle utilitarianism would be a good one to describe the moral issue in this movie. In utilitarianism, an action is moral if the action it is determined by its contribution to overall society. For example in the movie one of the moral dilemmas the protagonist confronts is when he faced a child molester who kidnap, killed and sexually assaulted a boy. He decides to take revenge with his own hand knowing that is not the right thing to do. Although utilitarianism represents the greatest good for the greatest number of people and murdering the child molester would represent that. Another good point is that the means justifies the good.

The second and most important moral dilemma presented in the movie is when the protagonist is hired to find an abducted girl and bring her back to her mother. When he finally found the little girl he realizes that she is very happy and that her abductor loves her. The dilemma lies in the protagonist decision to leave the child with her abductors or return her to her mother who doesn`t care about her. He was hired to find a kidnap child and bring her back to her mother not to see who is better fit to raise that child that is not his decision. A utilitarian point of view is that actions are made in the pursuit of happiness and returning the child to her mother can potentially harm the child.
