Cozumel island is the third largest Mexican and the most populous of the mexican caribbean. The west coast of Cozumel enjoys long white sand beaches and crystal blue waters. The turquoise color of its crystal clear waters has been converted to Cozumel in one of the destinations for diving and snorkeling more famous of the world.

HISTORY

The island of Cozumel the first settlers arrived around the second century B.C. The second migratory wave arrival the III century AD. The third wave of immigration arrived in the seventh century. This group was introduced to the island new forms of social organization, other architectural styles and new religious cults, among them the devotion to the goddess Ix Chel.

In the twentieth century after the Second World War, the development of the means of communication and the infrastructure services opened the possibility of tourism development, activity than to date is the basis of the local economy.

If you visit Cozumel it is recommended that you rent a motorbike or car to explore the island and move with greater ease and for rent you must present your valid driver's license from country of origin, for the currency The U.S. dollars are accepted in Cozumel island and the rest of the Mexican Caribbean and there are atms only in the center of the island.
