Hair Dye

Hair Dye is an easy way to change the color of your hair. This way of painting the hair started in with the Romans, the Ancient Egyptians. It exist five natural colors in the world, but like you can find five different colors of hair, also you can find four types of hair dye. Now a days the hair dye is very famous in all the world and most of the people use it.

The Romans, Ancient Egyptians and Greeks experiment with all kind of materials to produce a hair dye. They used to say that the hair dye was an ancient art. They obtained most of the hair dyes of the plants, like henna, sage, indigo, etc… But these plants only darken the hair, so they start searching for a new method to achieve the blond hair. Years later they find that using the goat fat they can produce blond hair. The time pas and in 1907 a French chemist created the firs synthetic hair dye. Also he is the founder of the popular brand “L’Oreal”.

It exist two types of pigments that are the ones that produce the natural color: eumelanin and pheomelanin. Eumelanin is the one that determines how darker the hair is going to be; like brown or black. Blonds have a low concentration of brown eumelanin. The other type of pigment, pheomelanin, is red. However, all hairs contain pheomelanin in different concentrations.

There are five types of natural hair:

• Black hair: is the most common natural hair in the world.

• Brown hair: found in the entire world and is associated with intelligence, trustworthiness and success.

• Blond hair: is rare to see it and it is in only 2% of the population. In Christian time it was associated with angelic and youth. But now it is associated with glamour.

• Red hair: is the least common hair color and are related with the unlucky in love.

• Gray hair: The hair turns gray or white as the years pass by. In this kind of hair the pigmentation decreases.

The percentage of each pigment determines the color of the hair. Today the hair dye work with the pigment, removing the natural color and adding the new one. The hair dye would not affect the growth of the hair; which will appear as the natural color as it grows in. The four main types of hair dye are:

• Temporary color: it contains only tint and it can be wash after few shampoos.

• Semi- Permanent color: this dye washes out after six or twelve shampoos. It cannot lighten the hair, only change the tone of the existing tone by adding color.

• Demi-Permanent color: it last about twice as long as the semi- permanent color. Also it cannot lighten the hair only add color-
