Essay

The music is can be our sanity.

Esmeralda Silva Quero

What is the purpose of music? Why thousands of years our ancestors suddenly started making attempts to create something that was not just a replica of what was heard in nature, but something with own pace, with life?

The obvious answer is not thought that our ancestors sought to imitate the sounds of nature, but this answer does not answer why early humans deviated from the "natural" sounds (which incidentally were fed abundant at that time, and I doubt that the main intention was only recreate the sound of the rain that is lived daily) to create something called music.

To answer this question we first of all, try to put in context, and especially in the mentality and customs of those humans 'primitive' as we usually call. These humans had a much higher much less developed than the current human consciousness and sensitivity than the actual human being too. We could see it in the following way: Today absolutely anything that enters our brain goes through hundreds of (cultural, sensory, educational, prejudices, logical, emotional, etc, etc) filters ranging staining on and thus transforming and distorting information to the extent that children know not distinguish whether an iPad or plant is more natural. Our mind filters and modifies all at a really absurd degree, all in pursuit of that information is socially acceptable. Primitive men had none of those filters, the information arrived in raw (raw) format through your senses straight to your heart. I am convinced that both the meaning and what they saw visually seeing a tree is something completely different than what we see today.

Therefore, we can assume that they were beings "most gross and therefore more pure and sensitive" in a sense (or senses almost everyone would say). This crude way of seeing life made them see a completely different world than we see today. That world is demonstrated was a superstitious world, but not in the modern sense of the word. I think the proper term is that they looked a mísitico world, a world more pure and ethereal that we see in the spectacular daily. And that world brought with him his own baggage, and within that bagage something behind us either forget and loss of capacity is the world of "visions". How could the gods to these primitive men but through visions appear? It is impossible to think that 50,000 years ago a homonym of Socrates is seated on a rock beside a Sabretooth tiger and is completed to see the sky god existed. The reasoning of primitive men was basic, and that was due to two reasons, firstly the lack of "taming" of the brain, and the second is that had that mystical world that made up for the lack of reason and logic. We can then conclude that men came to the gods not through reason but through visions.

And this is a keyword, because humanity today is in a desperate search of the mystical world we have lost, especially that door, the key to this other world that are the visions. Drugs, rituals, false priests, we all want to have our own "vision" about the afterlife. In fact all the deception of most religions are based solely on those visions (Mary having a vision about the birth of Jesus, the prophets teniedo visions of the coming of the messiah, etc, etc). The key is lost and we are desperate (and meanwhile religion abusing these visions recycled 2,000 years ago).

What has this to do with music?

I think that music originally invented as an alternative key to generate these visions. If we listen to the older music, this was no rhythm, no points or counterpoints. The original music is incomprehensible to modern man. Sounds nonsensical, incoherent and call today as "boring". If anyone has heard African drums, traditional Japanese music or see that it is a completely different animal, a DNA of another world that has absolutely nothing to do with the Beatles or any other band today. The oldest music is a set of inducing sounds of trance, the problem and the reason that this music will never be heard in 99.999% of modern society is that we have forgotten how to enter trance, like opening that door, and that music soon became a forgotten language that few people understand.

The first time I heard the Japanese ancient music surprised me. Touches of flute, followed by silence, and suddenly a scratch aggressive ropes, meaningless, a drumbeat around here, another there. I remember my anger at not finding any sense in that, remember even have come to take the classification of music to what for me was pure noise. Through the years and patience I have begun to understand something basic. The music of the past is not a complete and alone, separated from everything else (as we are today humans), but a supplement to something else. The pair of early music is not a glass of red wine, but nature itself. It is obvious to me right now that those sounds flute, drum, abrupt silence is better digested (and perhaps only) in nature, more specifically between the green mountains of Japan. I know because I have visited these mountains, and suddenly I started not to understand music, but to find some kind of sense. And it was thanks to having had the experience of living nature, then by works of fate have returned to listen to that music which immediately reminded me of those mystical places.

The same applies to all primitive music which is incomprehensible to us by several factors, loss of mystical sensibility, for all the millions of distorting filters that carry over, and for not listening to the right place in the right way.

All this leads me to think that actually the origin, purpose and essence of music is not please the ear, but the real name of the music is to be the key that opens the door to that mystical-magical world of visions .

Parenthesis: I recently heard the first definition of magic that made sense to me. Magic is to know the real name of things. Who knows the name of a flower? In the world of modern man no ... that is why magic is lost, because we have forgotten the real name of things. This paper attempts to recover the true name of the music that is not rock or ballads, and jazz or metal or indie, but "key" or "Iave" which in Hebrew is God. This means that music is but a door to the world of visions, the world of God.

We can corroborate this theory if we look at the Zen monks, who are probably more humans resemble primitive humans for thousands of years. The monks 'have' clothes, do not use the computer, do not go to McDonalds, his whole life is a simple life, devoted exclusively to become more primitive. That is, to remove all illusions of this world (Buddha) to be pure. These monks still keep the real name of music, Llave (Iave). All songs of Buddhist monks are focused on one thing: go into a trance, which is equivalent to having visions. The purpose of mantras (pure music) is not let them have a good time, or fill them with beautiful emotions before going to see the bride, pure goal is to enter the generator music in a trance where he can be closer lighting, ie closer to the world of visions, the world of God.
