The Joneses

The Joneses is a film about a certain and creepy strategy to sell stuff. This type of strategy isn´t the type of companies want to be the face of them, so if this is done is done in a secret way. The strategy is simple having a family that everyone can dream of; with the most recent gadgets such as cellphones, surround systems, videogames, big televisions, with expensive cars, beautiful furniture and of course a lovely big house. But the cherry in the cake was that they pretend to be always happy like they didn’t fight and be every time love full. The thing about this is that they didn’t convince them in first hand, they made them want stuff that either they had the money or not they bought them.

Talking about the psychology of the costumers, they are studied in different ways.

The psychology of how consumers think, feel, reason, and select between different alternatives, of how the consumer is influenced by his or her environment, the behavior of consumers while shopping or making other marketing decisions, Limitations in consumer knowledge or information processing abilities influence decisions and marketing outcome, How consumer motivation and decision strategies differ between products that differ in their level of importance or interest that they entail for the consumer, How marketers adapt and improve their marketing campaigns to reach the consumer.

Consumers behavior is really well explained in the movie for example with the “icon” thing because it is segmentation there is a different type of strategies to certain type of groups. Also another example when it doesn’t work is when the daughter takes the L´artiste and the mother asks her that if that brand is going to work with teenagers and it obviously won’t work.

The average consumers in this movie are the most affected, taking the example of fulfillers achievers and experiencers with the believers strivers and makers, cause they want to have the things that the people with more resources. And a little more specific are the believers and this is the guy that killed itself cause he couldn’t keep up to the fulfillers.

So the movie is really scary because it makes us think about our life and our behavior. Every purchase we make is previously planned so I think we can be smart consumers if we care a little bit.
