The Friki People

INTRODUCTION

FRIKI --> Is a word used in Spanish to means that the person's appearance or behavior out of the usual, interested or obsessed with a particular topic or hobby which is considered fanatical.

HISTORY

In 2000, when he began to popularize the term, the word “Friki" was taken as an insult, but the word gradually lost its pejorative meaning, Even going so far as to arise the “Friki culture“

Since 2006 there is a "global day of Friki pride", which is held every May 25, especially via the Internet.

APPEARANCE AND PERSONALITY.

The Friki People don’t care about the dress and they usually wear clothing that is comfortable to them because they don’t care about what others think of them. Often they wear shirts of your hobbies, with famous quote. Also some Friki people practice cosplay.

Friki people likes:

• Star Wars

• American, European and Japanese comics

• The role games such as World of Warcraft

• The Lord of the rings

• Youth literature such as Harry Potter and The Chronicles of Narnia.

• The video games.

• Series of television

• Technology

TYPICAL BEHAVIOUR AND TENDENCIES

Friki people are usually associated with an introvert or difficult to relate to people outside their character hobby, interest, or unconventional clothes they wear. Whatever their hobbies, their dedication to those things is usually high, aspiring to know everything about their hobby and spend all their free time in them.

Thus, some are accepted without problems, but others are not totally accepted, mainly to consider some hobbies as strange or inappropriate for age. However, these characteristics are based on social prejudices that create the wrong Friki stereotype.

FINAL COMMENT

The urban tribe called Friki, today has increased their number. Even is divided into three subcategories: geeks, otaku and nerd. Also like any urban tribe has prejudices about this stereotype that sometimes are wrong.
