Henry Ford

Early life

Henry Ford was born July 30, 1863, on a farm in Greenfield Township, Michigan. His father, William Ford 1826–1905, was born in County Cork, Ireland, in a family that was originally from western England. His mother, Mary Litogot Ford (1839–1876), was born in Michigan.

At 15, Ford dismantled and reassembled the timepieces of friends and neighbors dozens of times, gaining the reputation of a watch repairman. At twenty, Ford walked four miles to their Episcopal church every Sunday. In 1879 he left home and went to Detroit to work as an apprentice machinist, first to James F. Flower & Bros., and later in Detroit Dry Dock Co.

Family and friends

Ford was devastated when his mother died in 1876. His father expected him to eventually take over the family farm, but he despised farm work. He later wrote, "I never had any particular love for the farm, it was the mother on the farm I loved. Does not leave a lot of information from his family, leaves most of his inventions.

Important events in his/her life

Illuminating Edison Ford arrived in 1899 along with other investors, and formed the Detroit Automobile Company.

It was racing between your car and other manufacturers to demonstrate the superiority of its design. With this interest in racing cars created the Henry Ford Company.

The project involves manufacturing simple and cheap cars for mass consumption of the average American family.

In May 1943 Edsel Ford dies of stomach cancer, leaving vacant the president of the company. Henry Ford defended Harry Bennett, his partner for many years, to take the job. Meanwhile, Edsel's widow, Eleanor, who had inherited the voting rights of Edsel, wanted me to be his son Henry Ford II who take charge of the company.

Invention (description)

His invention was the first "automobile" before this machines consisted of machinery like a car, such as tractors. His first car was the Ford Model T, which appears in the market on October 1, 1908 and had a lot of innovations. For example, had the steering wheel on the left, this being something that the vast majority of other companies soon copied. Entire engine and transmission were closed, the four cylinders were mounted in a solid block and the slurry worked by two semi-elliptical springs. The car was very simple to drive and, most importantly, very cheap and easy to repair.

the car had been an object of craftsmanship and cost prohibitive, intended for a limited audience. Ford put the car within reach of the middle classes, introducing the era of mass consumption.
