1. “Humans Meld with Machines”

       In the last decade, from the early 2000 to recent 2009 robotic limbs have been of huge interest to the scientific eye. Reaserchers at Duke Univeristy Medical Center used monkeys to work with robotic arms to perform several tasks, one of them food managing. These robotic limbs operate via a neuro-chip that works through nerve signals. In 2001 a patient, with a double amputee used this method to perform tasks with both of his robotic arms.  This is of great benefit to disabled people and to the scientific community because it represents on more step towards reaching a state where humans able to heal and rehabilitate. With this kind of technology people can recover their capacity to perform basic human activities.

2. Stem Cells Found in New Sources

      Scientists from Kyoto University and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, working separately, found a way to revert adult skin cells into acting like embryonic stem cells. These cells became cells that no longer had a destination to become skin cells, but rather have the potential to become any type of human cell. To find a way to revert these cell’s destiny represents a huge milestone in scientific and medical research, because stem cells are the primordial cells of the human body and may have the potential to cure harmful diseases like cancer and lethal genetically diseases.
