STORY OF ELECTRONICS

Did you ever ask? Why the technology is destroying us and our planet? Or maybe, how can you stop the pollution that gadgets produce? Even it is important to ask, why do industries do nothing to diminish the contamination. “Contamination is the presence of a minor and unwanted constituent (contaminant) in material, physical body, natural environment, at a workplace, etc.”(Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

The world is obsessed with stuff, and because of that, we have a system in crisis.

The industries have a strategy to sell, and it is called “designed for dump”.

Designed for dump is the way to make stuff and trough in it quickly, nowadays electronics are hard to update, easy to brake and impractical to repair.

One good idea to the industry of electronics is the Law of Moore, this law says that electronic devices can double their process every 18 months, but bosses of designers saw it on a different way, they think that every 18 months we have to trough out our electronic devices, and that’s why they are causing a global toxic emergency.

The industries aren’t as clean as they look; they produce products with lead, mercury, pvc, and other toxic chemicals. This products produce a lot of illness to the workers, such as the IBM workers, the 40% of them had miscarriage and have more probabilities to die with cancer.

The problem of gadgets is that people trough them few months after they got them, and that’s why we produce a lot of technological contamination, because is easier and cheaper to buy another product than repair it, but all of these dump are carried to third world countries that are the more affected.

The things will be different if the owners of companies can understand the way of life that these people have, for example if one day an owner found his garage with all the broken gadgets and he has to deal with it and with all the contamination that produce. Maybe they will call the producers and they will start making less pollutant products.

I thing that we have to take measures to change all the “designed for the dump”, it isn’t fair to the nature and also to people. One good idea is to change the point of view of the Moore law and start reducing the production of toxic stuff in a 50% every 18 months, also the companies can make less toxic, more recyclable and longer lasting products.

We have to fight to have new laws that protect the planet and make the companies fabric new green products, the change are in us.

we want to have a clean environment but we have to come together and pressure the companies change their point of view.
