Animal farm essay

The book animal farm, written by gorge Orwell it’s an allegory about the Russian revolution, more generally the communism principles. The animals in the farm revel against their farmer Mr.

Jones and get to rule their own farm. But in order to maintain order and equality among them, the animals leaded by three pigs named Napoleon, snowball and squealer set a group of rules called the seven commandments. But throughout the story this rules started being violated and human tendencies become more and more attractive for pigs making the whole vision of animalism change drastically.

An example of this is the vision animals had about alcohol. At the beginning of the story the animals saw Mr. Jones drunk a couple of time and got to the conclusion that alcohol was an awful substance that gets you mad and makes you do wrong things, so they prohibited in animal farm. But later in the story, the pigs found a bottle of whisky in Mr. Jones cabinet, tasted it, got drunk and after suffering the hangover, the pigs liked it a lot. Napoleon loved it so much that he got to the point of killing his most loyal follower (Boxer) just to earn some money and buy more whisky. So they changed the rules and their vision about alcohol, now saying that drinking alcohol is wrong but just in excess. Besides the pigs, the rest of the animal community changed their vision but in an unconscious way. The rest of the animal´s intellect is really low, so they do not remember their previous and original vision of alcohol and the pigs just by changing the words in the seven commandments wall make them forget their perception of the alcohol.

Another example is the view animals had about the human race itself. When the revolution first occurred every human being was an enemy for animal farm. But again, the pigs little by little start interacting with the humans, principally for trading. Until it got to a point where animals and pigs were all equal and acted exactly the same. In this case, the pigs also took advantage of their higher intellect and convince the rest of the animals that humans were not that bad.

During all the story we can see how pigs, specially napoleon are tempted to follow the human habits, not caring about breaking their first ideals and betraying their own race
