The life of my grandmother

I’m interviewing my grandmother Luz Virginia Medina. She is 68 years old, born in November 23, 1947 in Buen Consejo, a neighborhood in San Juan. Otherwise in this interview you are going to read about some facts of her, childhood, marriage, school and more things of her life.

I lived in Buen Consejo and I went everyday walking to the school alone. My favorite thing was playing around with my sisters and climb trees all day. Some time I sewed some dresses or costumes to my cardboard’s dolls, always I had something to do. The mother of my father named Petra, in that moment she had 84 years and I was around 9 or 10 years old. I remember that she can’t even talk or move because she had a paralysis all over her body. Every afternoon I walk to her house and carry her a coffee on a little green cup of butter. However I never knew about how my father’s meet. I think they never marriage, they just live together. My home was a concrete house, comfortable, and there was a business that my father had like a supermarket in those years. Everyone knew who was my dad in al Buen Consejo and he had a lot of friends. Every single day their friends come with music, sprees and other things. The Three Kings day my uncles gave us toys, school supplies, fruits and deserts like quesitos, cookies and other candies.

Science and Spanish; this are my all favorite school subjects. My Spanish teacher: Sra. Castro was my favorite teacher, she teach me the poetry, and that my favorite thing to do and the literature. I just had one best friend, her name was, Isabelita, she knew all my secrets and all those things. We were together every day till the year I got marry, I never see Isabelita again.

My father had a business, and my future husband was working with him. He was the person that my dad most trust and he tell him to go to the house to search some items, sometimes I was there in the house and we talk a little and by the time we meet. Our wedding was at 8 pm and at 4pm I was ready to go. The wedding was tremendous, , all the preparations were handmade, very beautiful to be for poor people. Finally in my family for years haven’t born a baby, so when my first daughter born, she was the one who brought joy and happiness to the family.

In the other hand, I study commercial management and my first job like a practice was on a supermarket. Also I study butchery and my paycheck was 47 dollars the week. With that money I paid the water, electricity and other necessary things.

The person I consider my hero is my father, he was the only person that stay with me after all the problems and give me the example to follow. The happiest places and moments I’ve been are the day of my wedding, the birth of my two sons, and every holiday that I passed with the persons I love the most, my family. As well I’m very happy when I listen to my favorites songs like “Amada Amante”
