The philosophy of education is a specific branch of philosophy that analyses the language of educational theory and practice. It is linked to general philosophy by its methods, rather than for its purposes

Educación

Education: Training aimed at developing the intellectual, moral and emotional capacity of people according to the culture and norms of coexistence of the society to which they belong

Filosofía

Philosophy: At present it is said that philosophy is a "higher-order" activity that deals with the problems that arise from linguistic or conceptual confusions.

Teorías educativas

Educational theories: It arises from basic activities such as teaching, instruction, motivation of students and seeks to know, understand and predict educational policies and practices.

Teorías de la enseñanza o teorías pedagógicas

Theories of teaching or pedagogical theories: they are practical educational theories of a very limited nature, of little scope, such as the one that maintains that teachers must ensure that any new material is linked with what the student already knows for himself

Teorías generales de la educación

General theories of education: they have greater scope and complexity; they generate comprehensive prescriptions, by recommending the production of a certain type of person and, often, a specific type of society.

Practica educativa

Educational practice: it is a dynamic, reflective activity that includes the events that occurred in the interaction between teacher and students.

Discurso educativo

Educational discourse: talks about what is done, what is taught and how it is taught, the results obtained and, partially, recommendations based on what should be done

Educational aims: is the commitment to a purpose that is feasible to achieve, in this case, a general notion of the educated man.

Educated man: is one whose intellectual capacities have developed; he is sensitive to matters concerning morality and aesthetics; can appreciate the nature and strength of mathematical and scientific thinking

Aim: An aim is a logical requirement to formulate a practical theory. It is what is intended to be achieved

Propósito

Purpose: one thing being done in order to achieve another, the end-product lying outside the activity itself.

Practical theory: consists of an argument that provides recommendations to achieve a purpose considered desirable.

General knowledge: according to Plato Knowledge is related to the understanding of necessary truths about a non-phenomenal world, necessary in the sense that it would be impossible to make mistakes about them. An alternative view considers knowledge as the result of observation and experimentation in the empirical world.

Understanding: implies knowledge, but also involves the ability to make use of that knowledge; it's a special kind of knowledge, knowing how to proceed

Currículum educativo

Educational curriculum: it is mainly a matter of knowledge, knowing what and knowing how, together with some beliefs and attitudes that are considered valuable to teach

Enseñar

Teaching: is to have the intention that someone learn something. If this intention does not exist, whatever the agent does - act, entertain or have fun - will not imply that he is teaching, although he may intend to do so.
