soft skills that employers say graduates are lacking

In Mexico the young graduates lack good employment opportunities, but what will be the main reason? It is that they are not well prepared professionally, or do not meet the requirements that apply to companies for employment? It will be that schools are not doing their job well? Below I will show you what I found online about these issues, and my personal opinion.

According to the Undersecretary of Higher Education of the SEP and the National Survey of Occupation and Employment, only 40 out of 100 professionals in Mexico have a job related to their university education. In addition, research of  Manpower indicates that for every ten vacancies, four are not covered  because  applicants lack experience or skills. It doesn´t matter  if students have excellent notes, they will not get a good job if they don’t acquired other skills. I think that all students have to development this skill since they started the high school; nevertheless, much of this work depends of the program school.

How could they get a job if they have no experience; therefore, how to acquire skills that can only be achieved with the experience?

Because This is a problem that have been affected to students that want to get a job whithout experiencie A high percentage of managers from different companies say the candidates today lack soft skills: leadership, organization, humility, proactivity, communication, creativity. Even slows them is unable to write correctly or do not know a second language and who do not have specific knowledge that a company requires. In this respect I believe that many schools have left in second place these skills by focusing on the use of technology and therefore decrease the conversation face to face.

According to a report by the Stanford Social Innovation Review the vast majority of educational institutions still do not adequately prepare students to lead, cooperate with colleagues or working for positive change in the world. Skills such as problem solving, leadership, teamwork, empathy and social and emotional intelligence program remain outside most schools. I think that the above generates the skills deficit is getting bigger, graduates can make excellent use of technology and the application of knowledge, but they lack important skills such as communication and organization. This is the main reason why they fail to be good candidates for companies.

From the foregoing, I believe there are a number of features that, when hiring, make that an applicant is chosen, such as: leadership, personal and intellectual humility, solve problems, organize, and the ability to take ownership at any given task . Therefore, it is important that institutions incorporate the development of these skills when developing their curricula, so, graduates will get the job they want.
