Todo empieza cuando van a un paseo donde Missy la hija menor de  Mack  fue secuestrada  sin dejar rastro en el momento de que sus hermanos casi se ahogan, al darse cuenta que no está y creen que se perdió  llamaron a la policía el cual encontraron el vestido y  se dieron cuenta  que estaba  asesinada en una cabaña, esto hace que afecte a la relación interpersonal que hay en el entorno familiar y consigo mismo. Mack recibe una carta firmada por Dios en la que se le invita a ir de nuevo a la cabaña durante un fin de semana, volviendo a revivir su más oscura pesadilla. Sin embargo, tuvo una sorpresa al encontrarse con un hombre y dos mujeres que personificaban a Dios, Jesucristo y el Espíritu Santo.

Al principio fue un libro que es un poco diferente a la película, que se basa más en la religión y es muy deprimente, su valor más importante fue a aprender a perdonar, me parece muy  irónico de que dios pueda escribir una carta y presentándose en persona en una figura de carne y hueso de hecho algunas religiones no les pareció que hubieran hecho la representación de Dios, es un poco irrealista en esta parte, puede que se le presente por medio de signos o maneras que sean más ciertas, en cambio donde secuestran a la niña son casos que puedan pasar y es muy realista y uno de estos problemas en alguno de estos casos es su coherencia narrativa ya que habla mucho de la muerte de Missy pero casi no aparece en pantalla ni en el transcurso de la película, a veces es un poco confusa ya que al principio empieza de antes y luego en la actualidad, también  hay escenas que pueden llegar a confundir a cualquiera y por ultimo a mi parecer o en mi caso la verdad no es mi tipo de película y no trato de que se ofenda otra persona.
