1. Give an example of a product that had more of a market led strategy and one that appears to be more asset led strategy.

Asset led strategy:

The new IPod classic from apple would be product of a market led strategy since the clients are not demanding for another iPod, because apple already has: iPod shuffle (for athletes), iPod nano (similar to iPod touch) and iPod touch. No one is demanding it but apple simply does the product because they are good at producing it.

Market led strategy:

A product of Market led strategy would be a “All Bran bar” since now in days our society is concern with their health and physical body, food companies will try to produce a product that fulfills the consumers requirements of less salt, more fiber, less carbs etc.

2. Give an example of a product that employs the following marketing strategies

a) Mass marketing strategy

A product that employs the mass marketing strategy would be toilet paper, since this is a product that everyone uses despite their age. Little kids use it, children use it, adolescents use it, and elders use it. There is no requirement to use this product and is produced for everyone.

b) Market segmentation strategy

A product that employs with a market segmentation strategy would be a credit card, It is a segment market since there is Banorte, American Express etc. and they are all different markets with the same goal pleasing the needs of the clients children, adults, elders etc (segment market that targets everyone).

c) Focused marketing strategy

A product that employs with a focused marketing strategy would be Louis Vuitton since it is focused on ONE segment, on those who can afford it.

3. Describe the target market of a particular product according to

2 SEGMENTS: daughter and Dad

a) primary product need

**Product: iPad

Dad: Is looking for a product that includes useful apps for job, efficient, easy to use, doesn’t have to be elavorate looking. Will use for efficency at job.

Daughter: Looking for a product that is efficient, has internet connection, apps for games, creative look, cool packaging. Will use to communicate with friends.

b) price

Dad: Is willing to pay a large amount of money for his product since he will be able to afford it. ( $200 – $700)
