2. Which functions can be applied Benchmarking?

Planning: This phase of the Benchmarking identifies areas that should compare the specific organizations against which we should do, the type of data collected and how we should collect such data.

Analysis: The analysis phase focuses on gaining a thorough knowledge of existing practices and processes in our company as well as the organizations with which we compare.

Integration: In this case we use the findings from the first two phases to define the target areas we want to change. As part of this phase, we need to ensure that the concepts of Benchmarking is implemented in the corporate planning process and the Benchmarking is accepted at all levels of management.

Action: The knowledge and associated objectives Benchmarking should be translated into action. People who in practice perform the tasks should determine the best way to incorporate these findings to the existing process.

Maturity: An organization reaches maturity when identified best business practices are incorporated in all relevant processes, thus ensuring superior performance for the organization of the whole.
