Internal Assessment Research Proposal

How can Hotel Quito´s gym reach their annual customer target through a joint venture with Spinning´s gym?

Theoretical Framework:

- Considering that Hotel Quito provides full gym equipment to their customers, but lacks of different other activities such as Yoga, Zumba, Spinning etc, and Spinning (another fitness center) provides all of these interactive dancing activities, but lacks complete gym equipment, my idea is, through a joint venture, to provide benefits to both Hotel Quito´s gym and Spinning customers.

- I decided on this 2 businesses mainly because they are located really near one to each other, and most important, although they are both fitness centers, they represent no competition with one another but, a complementation.

- Customers will pay an extra fee on their memberships and they will be able to fully enjoy the different benefits from both businesses. (Extra fee will be considered later on because of incurring cost such as extra personnel and more maintenance for example)

- These new members ´´joining´´ Hotel Quito will eventually lead to its gym reaching their annual customer target without a huge investment (advertisement, new machinery, improved schedules, etc) and neither with a big profit at the end of it.

Methodology:

I will be using a SWOT analysis to determine the different internal and external issues that are limiting Hotel Quito´s gym to reach their target and give possible solutions to this. After the joint venture proposal I will then prove again with a SWOT analysis how an alliance between these 2 fitness center will mean an improve to both business.

Anticipated Issues:

It will be hard to get an interview with each of the gym owners or managers individually, but It will be even harder to get them together to discuss this possible joint venture.

I will also have to expose my idea to both managers in a way they see themselves getting benefited from the situation as a win-win one.

Maybe Spinning won´t be interested in my proposal, which will lead me to a Yoga Studio in the nearby.

Action plan:

Initially I will gather all the information I need from a known source from Hotel Quito: Josef Zumbuhl the actual co-executive and Veronica Tobar, current administrator of the Gym Memberships.

After this I will schedule 2 meetings, one with Luis Coto and Fernando Zurita (Hotel Quito´s gym owners and managers) and the other one with the current manager of Spinning´s gym.

Having the appointments schedules I will organize my ideas to present them in the best
