Guest Speaker – Jane

Having worked for Jane in the past, I knew some information about her business and how it worked, but I never knew the story of how it all started. It was great to have her as a guest speaker and was interesting to learn more about how she and her business got to where they are now.
She mentioned quite a few lessons that she learned throughout the process of starting her own business and how those helped her to build a better business. One of those lessons that I think one should consider when being an entrepreneur or even for everyday living  is that you have to be 100% committed to your work. You can’t just do it for the money and for the benefits. You need to do it for good reasons. If you do it for the right reasons, you will succeed.
Networking is also a very important factor. Go out and meet the right people, people who will help you. For example, if you are a student and plan on starting your own business in the future, it’s important to get to meet new people who are either in the same industry or who have had experience and can help you start your own successful business. It is also important to be loyal those people. You are in the position you are now thanks to those people. They put in time and hard work to help you start up the business you once dreamed of having.
You have to be honest with yourself. You can be imaginative, you can dream, you can have hope, but you need to understand and know whether you're making it or not. If other people, whether they're friends, family, or co-workers, tell you that your business is going downhill, you need to stop for a moment and look into it instead of ignoring it and just continuing as if your business is doing perfectly ok. Just because to you  it looks right, doesn't mean it always is.
