COMPANIES ARE COMMITTED WITH A CLEAN PRODUCTION

The water is a priority for industrial activity and therefore requires commitment . Generate diagnostic water footprint , implement process water recirculation and purification of the same , and to adapt ecological inputs to reduce the impact of waste are some industry initiatives to ensure that its activities are made through production clean .

For example , the Swiss multinational Syngenta , joined the Water Footprint project in January 2010 . And since then began a period of diagnosis, which allowed him to establish , as the first phase of the process , its measurement Water Footprint at its plant in Cartagena , located in the Mamonal , which are formulated and packaged products for the crop protection, which are distributed in Colombia and in the region Latin America North .

Thanks to this process , it was possible to have information and data to quantify the impact that the industrial process exerts on the water resource . Currently, the plant is reused 80 percent of the water from industrial activities in ornamental irrigation .

On the other hand , producer and marketer of cement and concrete , Argos , has proposed to do investment in clean technologies , for that reason, has made progress in the production of a new green cement , which has lower CO2 emissions and lower energy consumption .

Thus, in cooperation with the National University of Colombia , Medellin , this project is to obtain the formulation of a cement based CSA ( calcium sufoaluminate , for its acronym in English) fulfilling basic characteristics allow comparable with cement ordinary Portland .

Additionally , in 2011 Argos acquired Ceratech 9.33 percent , a U.S. company that has the latest technology to produce cement with zero CO2 emissions from fly ash , which refers to the fly ash , the residue resulting from the combustion of coal used to generate electricity.
