Introduction

Mobile phones today have become a necessity in human being life. It is a vital instrument carried by individual to be informed and connected with the world. A few years ago the basic functionality of mobile phones was limited to just attending and responding to calls. With the innovation in the technology, it information and data on fingertips and so is the case of mobile phone and the applications associated with it. A mobile phone covers maximum time of human daily life as we use it for an array of requirements. The ever growing need for better functionality in mobile phones has given birth to an entire gamut of leading edge technologies for customized mobile application development. Business solutions along with faster data transfer are few of the solutions provided by mobile phone to the business world. The wireless service providers have magnified their scope of availability and bandwidth.

Various software development companies have come up with great software applications providing novel services specifically designed for mobile phones. A corporate person makes use of mobile phone to maintaining contact with their clients, business partners, vendors, and employees. Using a mobile phone gives the student an alternative to improve the learning process with a touch of freedom in relation to the use of any other ways of education. This educational model in addition to focus on providing information, facts or concepts can also provide a methods of evaluation of the knowledge acquired, indicating the progress of the student, as it requires more practice, or information.

Knowing the benefits from this new technology perfectly fits with Tigo’s strategy of having sales force well trained now more than ever with the increase competition, and a stronger focus on customer relationship and retention. Customer expectations are continuously growing so it is imperative for our sale force to have a strong knowledge base.

1.2. Situational Analysis

The Direct Sales Force is the most responsible for selling the products and services provided by Tigo. Therefore, the importance of developing it with care and caution to insure that it is a powerful team with ample skills to sell all Tigo’s products. Tigo Rwanda is the first company in the country to transfer that responsibility to a channel no one used before, creating a sale force of freelancers entrepreneurs young people, most of them gaining their first experience of working life at Tigo. This means Tigo Rwanda has an enormous responsibility to train this people well, not only for the benefit of Tigo and customer, but in terms of the wider economy and community as well.

In 2012 Tigo Rwanda understood that the quality of sales team and their skills acquired through education and training were key components in determining the long-term profitability of the company, and decided to invest in the development and skills of them – both new and current – by creating a training project (Tigo Sales School) in charge of delivering high-quality training programs aiming to increase the overall efficiency and productivity of the sales team.
