Simple Present

• (+) Subject + Verb (infinitive) + Complement

• (-) Subject + do not + verb (infinitive) + Complemet

• (?) Do + Subject +Verb (infinitive) + Complement

Special rules for spelling:

• When we use, he, she, it, the verb finally with (es) or (s) (only in affirmative form)

o The verbs can, may, might, must remain the same in all forms. So don't add s.

o Verbs ending in o or a sibilant (ch, sh, s, x) add es instead of s.

o A final y after a consonant becomes ie before s.

o A final after a vowel (a,e,i,o,u) is not modified.

• When we use verb to be in the question form:

o Am/Is/are + Subject + Complement?

• (1)Verb To be

Uses:

• General Statements of fact.

Ex: The gym is near to your home.

• Habitual Activity.

Ex: I go to visit my grandmother every weekend.

• First Conditional

Ex: If he studies for the test, he will get good qualifications.

• Future meaning if it is a planned event or a definite action.

Ex: The movie starts at 7 p.m. tomorrow.

Simple Past

• (+) Subject + Verb ( in past) + Complement.

• (-) Subject + did + Verb (in past) + Complement.

• (?) Did + Subject + Verb (in past) + Complement?

Special rules for spelling:

• (2) verb to be in past

• We need add “ed” when the verb is regular.

• (5)Exceptions in Spelling when Adding ‘ed’

Use:

• An activity that began and ended in the past.

Ex: I went to the concert yesterday.

Simple Future

• (+) Subject + Will + Verb (infinitive) + Complement

• (-) Subject + Will not (won´t) + Verb (infinitive) + Complement

• (?) Will + Subject + Verb (infinitive) + Complement?

Use:

• To predict the future.

Ex: It will snow in Australia.

• To plan for the future.

Ex: I will go to Europe with my family next year.

• To express desires and wishes.

Ex: He is going to play football

Conditional

Ex: When my sister arrives at home, we will go to shopping.

Present Continuous

• (+) Subject + Am/Is/Are + Verb (gerund) + Complement

• (-) Subjet + Am/Is/Are + not + verb (gerund) + Complement

• (?) Verb be + Subject + Verb (gerund) + Complement?

Special rules for spelling:

• (4)Exceptions in spelling when adding ing.

Use:

• Moment of speaking.

Ex: He is watching Tv.

• General Progress.

Ex: I am writing a book of a poems for my boyfriend.

• Future Meaning.

Ex: She is living the house until tomorrow

Past Continuous

• (+) Subject + Was/Were + Verb (gerund) + Complement.

• (-) Subject + Was/Were + not + Verb (gerund) + Complement.

• (?) Was/Were + Subject + Verb (gerund) + Complement?

Special rules for spelling:

• (?)Will + Subject + be + Verb (gerund) + Complement

Ex: We will be flying to Usa, when you arrive to Rancagua.

Present Perfect

• (+) Subject + Have/Has + Verb (Participle) + Complement.

• (-) Subject + Have/has + not + Verb (Participle) + Complement.

• (?) Have/has + Subject + Verb (Participle) + Complement?
