Genetic sexual attraction.

Rationale

The aim of this written assignment is to have adolescents and a society become to reflect about the taboos which limited the understanding of the world, specially the genetic sexual attraction (GSA), because this is an unknown topic. There are three sources to and information about this, the first is a documentary addressed Incesto: ¿El Ultimo Tabú? And its controversy into the society, the second it is a blog about the taboos in general, and the last is a book written by a woman who pass for a situation of GSA.  I chose this topic because it catched my attention, when I listened about this the first time,  and also I felt that in this way I could express what I know to try to reflect about our actual taboos. This task addresses the optional topic of social relationships and specially addresses the topic of taboos in our society. The type of text is an article, and I am going to use an informal language, because I want the readers are interest in the topic.

What would happen if you fall in love with your brother or sister? The genetic sexual attraction occurs between close family members who have not been known until adulthood. A small percentage but so significant experimented this kind of feelings, what today is seen as a taboo, because some people say that the GSA is against human’s  nature and morality of them.

Based on scientific research, GSA can be considered a natural process that arises from the distance between relatives, which would demonstrate the normality of these relationships between people with the same blood. Even many people think that incest is a form of pedophilia, but not analyze  that if two people love each other and want to share their life, they must be accepted and respected by the society, and remember that nobody choose who they will love.

But at the same time, there are many studies that are against the GSA, and based on the investigation of the effects of having children between people who maintain relations with close relatives, arguing that the baby may have diseases and therefore his life would be at risk. Well, if scientist check this issue, the couples should be clear about the risks they are exposed, therefore many couples are exceeded disease problems and have opted for artificial insemination or adoption. 

 Also you should remember that genetic sexual attraction is not a custom, and a lot less a culture or ideology. Because all such relationships arise unexpectedly. These people, in the beginning questioned that if what he felt was normal, but then realized that if it was what they wanted, they should do it.

Finally, we can conclude that GSA is a normal relationship and we must respect it. And do not forget be open minded and always compare the information from the society’s stereotypes with other scientific sources. My aim is not to change your point of view about this topic, but to make you understand that this issue is something normal, natural and human, and therefore should not be taken as a taboo in our society.
