Good Teachers

Most human beings throughout the course of their lives need to be taught by a teacher in order to acquire academic knowledge that will allow them to develop in the future. Teachers usually are individuals skilled in knowledge that learn almost perfectly to develop or run a specific area. But, what are the characteristics that make a person a good teacher?

A good teacher is a person with high goals and clear objectives for his or her students. They are committed to the fact that their students can be successful in the classroom, and although perhaps not everyone is on the same level, they would not give up on offering their best. Also, a good teacher plans lessons beforehand, where the main goal is the student’s learning and furthermore, their ability to apply outside of the classroom what they have learned.

Another characteristic is that they are prepared, organized and motivate their students. They arrive early to their classrooms without distractions and ready to teach in a clear and structured way. Motivate students to express their points of view without fear of being judged. They would not allow that only the students knowledgeable on the topic take over the class’ participation.

Good teachers build strong relationships with their students, show them affection as people and are interested in what happens to them. They are pleasant, accessible, enthusiastic, understanding and loving. Good teachers are experts in their area or subject, and have a charismatic way of teaching. They inculcate in students the desire of continuing to learn outside of the classroom.

Most certainly a teacher can be anyone, but only those who have the vocation of teaching can be good teachers. Those who do not turn off the flame of continue learning from other professionals and their own students. A good teacher must be prepared, organized, focused on the goal of instructing, and able to not only motivate students but also seek self-improvement every day.
