TOPONIMIA

The Republic of Panamá is named for the city of Panamá, where he held the town hall and signed the Act of Separation of Panama from Colombia and similarly across the Isthmus of Panama that covers the territory.

The word Panama is of Indian origin, probably from cueva.Existen multiple meanings and references to the name assigned to Panama, but it is commonly accepted meaning abundant fish and butterflies.

HISTORY

The isthmus of Panama was first visited by Spanish conquistadors during the expedition of the clerk of Triana, Rodrigo de Bastidas in 1501. Bastidas sailed along the Caribbean coast of the present province of Colon and the islands of San Blas. Due to the poor condition of their boats, Bastidas suspended shipment and returned to Spain.

GOVERNMENT

The Republic of Panama is a sovereign independent State, based on its own territory, where they observe and respect the individual and social rights and where the will of the majority, which is the authentic expression of the people is represented by the free vote .

PANAMA INTITUCIONES POLICIES

The Constitution of Panama of 1972, as amended by Acts 1978 Reformation and the Constitutional Act of 1983, presents a unity government, republican, democratic and representative. They represented the three organs of State.

Formed by the President of the Republic and Ministers of State.
