PREESCHOOL EDUCATION

I´m talking about preeschool education due to I am doing my practise time in a creche or playgroup.

Some time before, playgroups were places where children played and spent the time because children´s parents had to work but nowadays playgroups are much more than a place where kids enjoy playing.

Now, playgroups are places where kids receive an education in different ways. For example they learn things related with their lives, how to be autonomous, the experience with objects, materials etc. and as a conclusion of this they learn. They also learn how to behave correctly and live with others. They also share their lives with their friends.

Peeschool education is not obligatory, this is why some children don´t attend school until they are 3 o sometimes 6 years. I have seen how kids who didn´t attend to playgroup have more difficulties in order to socialize with other and are always near the teacher or adults. They aren´t as active as the others and in early ages they cry when their parents let them at school every morning.

On the other hand, in the playgroup children do a variety of things. For example, I´m going to explain a day in the playgroup.

Each morning, children arrive at school. Some kids come at 8 because of their parents job. Others can allow coming at 9 or half past nine.

Then we sit down in the carpet and we talk about what we are going to do during the journey at school and they can talk one by one about their experiences or whatever they want to tell us. This stimulates their language and help them to express their feelings and opinions.

Then, after that we do an activity related with what we are learning at the moment. For example we are developing activities associated with a small orchard we have in the schoolyard. Children have the opportunity to plant strawberry and green peas seeds.

Children also enjoy drawing and painting green peas and experimenting with different materials. Then we learn some concepts like round, green, this is how the peas look like for example.

In carnival we all must go to school wearing costumes related with our orchard, for example I made my strawberry costume sewing.

We also tell stories about aspects they are interested in. for instance there is a boy who is frightened by the dark at night and he cries before go to sleep, therefore we tell a story about this problem.

Other activity we do, is listening to different musical instruments that parents play. Parents come to classroom and then they play their
