Abstract

Drugs that fascinate the man are those that affect the brain and spinal cord in which it rests. These bodies comprise the central nervous system, the control center of the body not only itself, but also of sensation, emotion, thought, and all that we call mind. Drugs that act on this center are as diverse in their actions and the same mind. Happy, depressed, excited, numb, dull thinking and feeling or deformed or terrible ecstatic visions. They include some of the most common drugs (alcohol, caffeine, nicotine), some of the most useful (ether, procaine), some of the most controversial (LSD, hashish) and some of the most dangerous (cocaine, heroin).

Throughout history, central nervous system drugs were the most influence on society in general and the most disturbing. They all have the virtue of altering greater or lesser extent man's perception of himself and the world around you. This unfortunately has caused today, smuggling of narcotics is perhaps the most lucrative business in the underworld, which is a shame, because in addition to the social problems that implies, just a clear and dispassionate understanding of its importance care may lead to intelligent use of them and end their abuse.

To What Extent Narcotics Affect Our Society?

Throughout the nineties, was accentuated a trend of gradual social integration and standardization of consumption and consumers, who are no longer exclusively marginalized groups, including groups that gradually included, at least temporarily, compatible in drug use, with a normal life.

Throughout these years, significantly changed the social parameters of drug addiction.

There was a shoulder of the social danger of heroin, a drug that seems in decline and many of those affected in treatment, maintenance programs or in situations of social authority or control. Given the lower incidence of public distortions, the alarm appears to be declining.

There are new types of consumption, repeatedly considered less harmful, which spread from the argument that it uses little addictive. Synthetic drugs such as stimulants started to make serious controllable without contraindications. Drugs are presented as "smart" people "sensible" which, of course, not a problem of crime or public order.

Consumers have gradually lost the character of marginalized people, are increasingly "integrated".

Essentially, drugs are poisons. The effect depends on the amount taken. A small amount is a stimulant (increases activity. A greater amount acts as a sedative (inhibits activity. A larger amount acts as a poison and can kill the person.

This is true of any drug, each requiring different amounts.

Consuming drugs once also has it risks. A single “partying at night” can cause a severe poisoning and an overdose can cause serious body and health harm, even death.

Believing that consuming only the weekends is not risky is a very serious mistake, because if you add up the weekend days in a year you will notice that there are many days. If we add that, in general, young people are consuming larger amounts in these days, and when added the amount consumed is much more than anybody can think.

All drugs can cause dependence. If somebody needs drugs to have fun, dance, talk with your friends, avoid problematic situations, emotional mind, it is very likely that after a while this person would not know how to enjoy things, go out, conquer, troubleshooting problems without drugs. Therefore you have a high risk of being dependent, at that time ask for help.

If you mix different drugs (i.e., alcohol and marihuana, cocaine and alcohol) the risk are higher, because you are submitting your nervous system to real contradictory shocks. Drug combinations will make that the effects multiply with risk and even cause death. If something happens you must go quickly to the emergency health service near you.

Illegal drugs may be adulterated, which often make the traffickers to make more money, which makes them even more toxic.

If you have had psychological problems or genetic background, the drug makes you more vulnerable to untie serious mental disorders.

In every country there are drugs that are illegal, and its use is sanctioned. If you are caught, you have a very high risk of getting arrest.

Many behaviors are more dangerous under the influence of drugs: driving a car or a motorcycle, or having any contact with people, have sex without considering the consequences, creating family problems that usually leads into domestic abuse, get into fights and even street violence.

Drug use is influenced by the social situation. The drink of alcohol, smoke cigarettes or marihuana, snorting cocaine, etc., Occurs through learning with others, usually of significance as family, friends, parents and in society (in the use that is “socially accepted”).

Generally, these consumptions are given in groups, is infrequent, isolated consumers. Somehow there is a contagion or social pressure that conditions the use of drugs.

One factor that increases this consumption is the availability of the drug, which facilitates access of people to these substances.

One example is the ease of purchasing alcoholic beverages in small packages in supermarkets; 24 hours liquor stores, which make people drink more.

Another example that makes this easily are the many stalls that sell cigarettes individually or the facility to buy glue, such as neoprene, used to inhale.

In this way there is a direct relationship: the greater availability there’s a greater consumption; while the consumption is increased, there is further damage.

Another factor influencing the consumption of alcohol and other drugs is the attitude of the public, community, regarding these behaviors. To the extent that the environment is more permissive and does not exercise social control over consumption, as there are no restrictions, there will be more risk and maladaptive behaviors that involve the entire society.

The control exercised by the community aims to promote healthy lifestyles and prevent damage that can be prevented. These requires that everybody must help, the sense of responsibility for their health and their lives, the responsibility for the health of the community and develop conditions for participation in it that is useful and constructive.

Illicit drug use is accepted in society because they play a role and contribute money to the economy.
