Some people claim that there are more disadvantages of the car than its advantages. Do you agree or disagree? Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of having a car.
Give reasons for your answer.
Few people say that having a car can bring more problems than benefits. In my opinion, I agree that owning a car can have some disadvantages and it is a big responsibility, however, it can also be an advantage to own a vehicle because it brings a lot of facilities.
Firstly, people who have a car can transport easily to any place that they need or want and at any time. Additionally, it can be avoided the use of public transportation and its uncomfortableness. Also, with a vehicle time can be saved, for instance, when people commute to their jobs they can take the route that is the best option and not have to spend time on traffic jams.
On the other hand, there are more disadvantages than advantages to having a car, for example, a lot of money has to be spent in maintenance so that accidents can be prevented and people can drive safely. Another expense that has to be paid by the owners are taxes, which are very high in my country. In addition, cars generate a lot of pollution because of all the emissions that they produce, causing and contributing to the big problem that society has nowadays known as global warming.
In conclusion, having a car represents a very high responsibility not just with our incomes but also with the environment. For this reason, I think that people around the world should use more the public transportation than their own cars and the governments should improve the service of this transport so that people can reduce their expenses and the damage to the planet.
