La explicación del origen de la tierra siempre ha sido un tema de interés, por lo que hoy en día se sigue sin saber como fue que la tierra fue creada. A lo largo de la historia han surgido diversas teorías que intentan explicar el origen de la tierra y el sistema solar. En la actualidad la que es mas aceptada es la teoría nebular, la cual fue planteada por el filósofo Inmanuel Kant.

Esta teoría plantea el origen del Sistema Solar a partir de una nebulosa originada de una explosión supernova. Sus partículas giraban formando un gigantesco disco. En el centro se fueron acumulando las más pesadas; las más ligeras se desplazaron hacia el exterior.
