X-Men: Days of Future Past is a 2014 superhero film, based on the fictional X-Men characters appearing in Marvel Comics. The film was directed by Bryan Singer and acts as a sequel to both 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand and 2011's X-Men: First Class. The story, loosely inspired by the 1981 Uncanny X-Men storyline "Days of Future Past" by Chris Claremont and John Byrne, focuses on two time periods and Wolverine being sent to 1973 to save the future of mutantkind. The film stars an ensemble cast, including Hugh Jackman, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Halle Berry, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Nicholas Hoult, Shawn Ashmore, Peter Dinklage, Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart. The story is written by Simon Kinberg, Matthew Vaughn, and Jane Goldman, with Kinberg writing the screenplay.

Days of Future Past entered production in April 2013 in Montreal, Canada, with principal photography concluding in August 2013 and additional filming in February 2014.[4][5] The film premiered in New York City on May 10, 2014[6] and was officially released on May 23, 2014.[7]

Days of Future Past received wide critical acclaim reviews, being considered as one of the greatest films in the series to date, praising the performances, Bryan Singer's directing, and the plot that fixes the flaws from previous films. A sequel, X-Men: Apocalypse is scheduled for release on May 27, 2016.
