The branch of Scotiabank in Mexico earn a lot of profits in the retail department and is consider the third most important competitor in the Mexico Retail market and every year is a new challlange for the company because they try to generate more profits

has a problem in the focus of their strategy in the retail department, auto loans, mortgages, personal loans, payroll and SME are having a bad approach to solve their projects and implement their new projects. Scotiabank strategy is to focus on good clients and is really risk adverse bank this one is the reason why they do not suffer as much as other commercial banks in the crisis of 2008. With this I want to show that the risk department is involve in the most decisions of the retail department.

The background of this situation is that there is a very old system that has to many limitations. For instance if you have to make a change for the benefit of any financial product you can affect the other retail ones and this can damage the productivity and the goals of the company. Another problem is that the knowledge of this product is base in only a few people, so every time a new implementation has to been done the average time to fulfill the work is about 6 to 8 months. This issue is getting the results late and makes the profit less rentable and the work less efficient because they cannot plan in the short term because the development of the projects take too long and make things to late to developed.

The opportunity I identify is that for the last years the focus of Scotiabank group hast to reach highest goals and to be profitable by getting strong financial products like the auto loans and personal loans, but there are not moving in the IT and it is important that instead of invest in trying to earning more money is to invest and create a more responsible and better IT department.
