Information Ethics

In today's world we are continually receiving and seeking information, often from the Internet. The daily use of this tool facilitates actions such as copying and pasting, as well as providing the wrong impression that all that information that is of free access allows us to do whatever we want with it.

The information of others is owned by another person (such as a car or anything else we own), regardless of whether it is free or not, or the way we had access to  Our words belong to us and cannot be used without our permission.

Therefore, plagiarism is an infringement of copyright on a work of any kind, which is produced by copying it, without authorization from the person who created it or who owns or owns the rights of such work, and its presentation as original work.

Internet has become a very popular source of information for student work. But among the many possibilities offered by new technologies, there is the option of "copy and paste", so it makes it easier copying other people's work.

Many believe that what is on the Internet is a source of information that has no author, and therefore, is available to anyone who wants to appropriate it to use it as they want, without having to indicate authority or source. But what circulates on the Internet, is the result of the work of people whose authorship must be recognized.

We definitely shouldn't do this because this type of habits damages our training and qualification in the long term, it makes us worse professionals, makes us less taking advantage of the work of others is a selfish act, it may also involve criminal liability or academic sanction, learning makes us more competent, more autonomous, freer and more valuable

As we have already seen, the computer as well as being a very useful object for work, communication, entertainment, etc. It can also be a powerful weapon for those who do not use it properly in its specified use.

However, to do this, it is necessary to have a set of ethical bases or rules that guide our actions in it, making better use of this amazing tool.
