“Apple vs. Microsoft”

In this essay we are going to compare how Steve Jobs and Bill Gates became successful and one of the richest man in the world. First a little background. In one hand we have Steve Paul Jobs or best known as the co-founder, chairman, and CEO of Apple Inc. He was born in San Francisco, California he studied in Reed College in Oregon but he drooped it because it was too expensive for its parents. He spent the next 18 months dropping on creative classes, including a course on calligraphy. On the other hand we have William Henry Gates was born in Seattle, Washington. He graduated from Lakeside School in 1973. He scored 1590 out of 1600 on the SAT and enrolled at Harvard College in the autumn of 1973, some years later he will drooped it also with the support of his parents in the understand that he wants to start his own company. Steve starts working in 1974 as a technician at Atari, Inc. At the same time Bill Gates was working in his Basic platform and introduce it to MITS that in that time were the creators of a new mini computer.

Bill and Steve both were in the looking for new opportunities to develop their ideas in order to be the top ones in the computer and systems market, but at the first as we can see in the movie “Pirates of Silicon Valley” Steve Jobs was the one that starts having more success and Bill instead was in the improvement of his Microsoft software. But from here we can compare another really aspect of Jobs and Gates. This first one was a really self-confidence person that has a lot of skills and abilities to be a leader and an amazing capacity to talk and convince people. But he also was really impulsive and intense and sometimes that doesn’t help him in making the best decisions. Totally different from Steve. Bill seems to be a really intelligent but shy guy in other words the typical nerd that is a genius but in practical life can be cheated easily. Except for the fact that he was a genius all the other things that he appears to be were totally the opposite. Bill was like “that silent small spiders” that seems inoffensive and produces a feeling of superiority over them but they are only waiting for one critical move to bite you and kill you. That’s what happened between Steve and Bill well maybe Gates didn’t kill Jobs but he certainly start becoming more powerful and richer than him. We can find a lot of differences between them but they also had several similarities like the fact that both were outstanding intellectual persons and also visionaries and they both knew how to reach their goals and at the same time they fought and sacrifice a lot for it.

In conclusion we can see from the news, movies, books and all the research we do that as in the movie saw in class they were two regular guys that go to the school drink beer and play poker but being regular didn’t excuse them for
