Title: Grey Owl

Author: Vicky Shipton

Rating: 3 stars

Plot summary:

The book is about the story of Grey Owl, about his life and who he is. Grey Owl was a British conservationist, fur trapper and writer who disguised himself as a Native American. When he died his secret was known, that he was not an Indian, nor did he have Indian blood, and that his real name was Archibald, and he was born in England in 1888. On August 23, 1910, he married Angele Egwana and had his first daughter, but Archie abandoned her and left his life as an Indian, until his appearance and his story changed. During that time, he met Marie Girard and stayed with her for a while. On May 6, 1916, he joined the Canadian Army, but was shot in the foot and hand. On February 10 he married Ivy Holmes, and they went to live where Angele lived, separated from Ivy and had another daughter with Angele, but Archie again left. Sometime later he met Anahaero to whom he told almost all his story. Archie began writing books and in 1929 signed his name "Grey Owl" for the first time.

Character description:

Grey Owl personally seems to me a very bad person, first, because of the question of not wanting to accept who he really is, because he was never a real Indian or by birth and he always said he was an Indian and even adapted to their customs and always lied to people about his origin or who he was.  It wasn't until he died that his real origin was known. Also, for his love relationships, since the nape of his neck was faithful to any woman, so he never liked the commitment, however, he married three times, and had many more women in his life, and left many women pregnant and never took care of any child, since he always ran away and never returned.

What i like:

I liked that it was a little easy reading read, as well as I liked the way they tell the story of Grey Owl, since it tells it in an easy-to-understand way, about his whole life, about what he did, the good he did for the community among others. Another aspect that I liked about the book was the activities that I brought at the end of the book, since they served to better understand the story, and to see how much you understand English.

What I didn´t like:

Actually, I do not dislike anything about the book, since I thought it is a good book, only something that I disliked was some aspects of the life of Grey Owl, since in my opinion he was not a good person, he may have been a good person with others but in matters of love or relationships, he was a terrible person,  for how he treated the women he was with and for the immaturity he had.
