Analyzing Rainning In Paradise – Manu Cho

Along the history there has been many types of expressions. But definitely since the beggining of the kingdoms, types of protestantism have existed. The protestantism in music took place during the early 16th century and sacred music in the Catholic Church was sung in Latin by the clergy in the church choir stalls.

The song I chose was “Rainning In Paradise” by Manu Cho. It talks about the different negative circumstance in which Asian and African countries live in.

Hypocricy, no democracy, calamity, and atrocity are the problems situated in this protest. It is infered that the lyrics are totally against to the United States Government because in one part this it says: “In Baghdad, it’s no democracy. That’s just because it, it’s a US Country”. It is known that african countries totally dislike United States because of the differences that they have had lately in history.

The message of this song is that many countries live in ungreatful situations, and many others live in perfect conditions and comfort. But the autor expresses his interest of people getting into some kind of religion and start to have a better way of life, in which I infer, everything would turn better and everyone could be benefited.

Commonly, the audience interested in this kind of inspiratory stuff, is the people with very strong convincement of having a better life, or people that are going through suffering because of some kind of similar condition.

But many other people that live in countries like the United States can be interested too, maybe not because they live in these kind of sittuations but because they don’t agree unevenness.

In fact, we can’t be sure of the audience that listens to this type of music just because everyone has a particular judge of it.

In the other hand Chao is a French artists that regulary sings about love, inmigration, and guetto life. His family inmigrated from Spain to France during the times of Francisco Franco. He has a lot of experience and started very soon. Since he was a child he showed big distinction in the musical world. He had different types of bands and finally he finished as a single artist, where he won extraordinary fame.

Because of his life situation we can assume that he has a particulary reason to sing protestant music. Maybe he has been through many kind of racism or discrimination and with his music he is pretending to abolish these injustices. But also he is a person that lived during a particulary time in which many of these types of artists came out and showed the world their willings to change it.

The impact of protestant music to the world has been in certain way positive, but also negative in places where the message has not been taken correctly.
