The Doors was an American rock band that became one of the greatest exponents of the psychedelic 60s

The doors was an American rock band, formed in Los Angeles (California) in July 1965 and dissolved in 1973

Although the Doors career ended in 1973, its popularity has been maintained. According to the RIAA, they have sold 32.5 million certified units in the United States.

The band has sold over 100 million albums around the world.

Its beginnings

The Doors were composed by singer James Douglas Morrison, keyboardist Ray Manzarek, guitarist Robby Krieger and drummer John Densmore

The beginnings of the band got their start on the campus of UCLA where four studied cinematography.

Jim Morrison was a great lover of music and books. After reading William Blake with phrases like "If the doors of perception were cleansed, everything would Appear to as it is, infinite" and "there are Things That are Known and Things That are unknown, in between are the doors"; decided to create a group that called The Doors.

In 1965 he met Manzarek he had an amateur group in which they played brothers named Rick & The Ravens. Following the entry of Morrison, Densmore and Krieger (the last two from the Psychedelic Rangers) in the band and output Brothers Manzarek (who did not like the songs written by Morrison) Jim initial idea definitely came Morrison, The Doors.

The group began performing in the most famous clubs in the city and its extraordinary sound highlighted by organ Manzarek (one of the greatest keyboardists in rock history) and the strange lyrics and vocal and performing skills Morrison managed to attract a large group of fans.

Arthur Lee was the leader of the group Love, who after witnessing the performances of the Doors, recommended to his label Elektra signing the band.

So did the company presenting the first album the group simply called "The Doors" (1967).
