In April 26, 1986 at 1:23 am (local time), the technicians in the Chernobyl power plant in Ukraine, began a consistent simulation in reducing the level of power in the reactor number 4 as part of a controlled experiment. But this ended in a major disaster due to a series of failures. The Chernobyl disaster was the worst nuclear power plant accident in history in terms of cost and casualties. It is one of only two classified as a level 7 event (the maximum classification) on the International Nuclear Event Scale. Northern Europe was exposed to clouds of radioactive material were carried by the wind. As it was later reported, 17 European countries were touched by the cloud, which caused and continue causing that people born with severe deformities and diseases. It is estimated that over 15 million people have been victims of the disaster in some way and will cost more than $ 60 billion on medically treat all those affected population.

Most people thought that this was a serious accident, but the truth behind this is not so simple. The truth is that the United States sabotaged the Chernobyl nuclear power plant because they discovered that this plant was not to generate energy for the Soviet Union, it was to create nuclear weapons of massive destruction.

As you know, this period was marked by increasing tensions of the Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union. The nuclear threat is more evident than ever, so in the middle of this decade occurs an approach between the two blocks.

United States saw that the Soviet Union was creating the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, and they could not trust that was only to produce energy, so they sent spies to see what was really behind this project. As it advanced the investigation by the United States, they were found with evidence that Chernobyl was not built just to produce energy. They found drawings and experiments of new ways of using nuclear energy. Also they saw places where the soviet union test with radioactive explosives.

All of this made United States to believe that they haven’t failed having those prejudices to the nuclear plant, but they needed more evidence to be sure.

Finally they found what was missing to not have any doubt that the Soviet Union was planning a massive attack. Spies heard a worker of the plant talking about the room 43 where the “release date” had to be rescheduled. These suspected that it was the release date of the attack, so they searched the room and found that the Soviet Union would attack, and this would be the day Monday, April 28 and they found tons of nuclear bombs

United States had to think an answer to this quickly, because there were only a couple of weeks for the attack. The only answer they saw possible was to sabotage the nuclear plant. They knew that this was probably risky because many people would die with the explosion of the plant and radioactive waste would also expand for all Europe causing severe disease in people, but it was even more risky that the Soviet Union would use these weapons of massive destruction to dominate the world.
