INTRODUCTION

The container is a type of ship specially designed to transport cargo in standardized containers. Their increasing capacities, have led to an economic growth of world trade and a change of direction for the naval sector.

Largest Container Ship World

(The Mercury) Economy of scale, energy efficiency and environmental care are the three concepts under which the largest in the world and whose model is named "Triple-E" (for English words) designed boat.

The "Triple-E" uses a slow navigation system, designed to reduce fuel consumption by 37% and carbon dioxide emissions per container by 50%.

The boat is bigger than even the most impressive oil, therefore, that the depth of their draft of 14.5 meters, cannot dock at ports in the Americas, limited to routes in Europe and Asia. In fact, there are only 16 certified ports to meet the size of the vessels "Triple-E".

But more than a counter, Maersk expects that this restriction gives it an advantage over competitors who travel between the European and Asian continents, amid a price war has made it difficult for some operators to stay in business.

Ships in operation

The first mega-port the "Maersk Mc-Kinney Møller"-name of the deceased son of the founder of the company- began loading its first containers in Busan, South Korea to Europe and a stopover in Singapore during the second half of 2013 at the time, Lars Jensen, chief operating Asia-Europe Maersk Line, told the Wall Street Journal: "We will operate as a smaller ship in early ports while improving their cranes."

Since then, and having this first ship, the Danish firm has to date, five containerships in operation. The group is completed: "Majestic Maersk" -nave that made a stopover in the Bay of Algeciras (Spain) port in March próximo- "Mary Maersk", "Marie Maersk" and "Magleby Maersk", the last to enter service.

With the Triple-E Maersk Line model seeks to overcome his French competitor, CMA CGM, which since 2013 operates vessels capable of carrying 16,000 containers. Discovery Max today show boat manufacturing in a series of six chapters and a total of 50 thousand photos, taken in three months.
