Assessment Abstract

Education is as broad as the mind of our students and Assessment takes an important role when applying the evaluation process in our classes. Assessment intents to tackle directly on the students´ performance throughout the process and at the end of the process. This module will cover one of the most relevant aspects in teaching English such as Assessment which lets the teacher monitors what the students have been taught and if the objectives of the course have been accomplished.

The elements to be applied during the development of the module are the following:

1. Indicate the basis for developing and using assessments of languages for specific purpose, considering the variation of language according to the context in which it is used.

2. Discuss ways for assessing and constructing listening and speaking tests

3. Apply criteria for assessing and constructing writing and reading tests

4. Ensure a deeper understanding of the issues in and solutions to concerns about grading

5. Design solutions for low quality or poorly organized evidence and inappropriate grade calculation

The development of this module will rely on the methodology applied for PBL (Problem Based Learning), ABPRO (Project Based Learning) as well as the use of group work, pair work and obviously the application of formative and summative assessment such as portfolio and interdisciplinary projects.
