UNIDAD DEPORTIVA PALOGRANDE

La unidad deportiva palogrande es el lugar deportivo más grande en Manizales, porque allí podemos encontrar: canchas de tenis, de baloncesto, el patinodromo, el coliseo, el estadio, y un gimnasio.

• El coliseo: es un lugar muy popular en la ciudad donde se practica deporte, como el baloncesto profesional, pero también se realizan eventos culturales y sociales.

• El estadio: un lugar muy importante para Manizales. Como se puede ver es muy grande, con capacidad para 35.000 personas. Allí se practica futbol profesional.

La construcción del anterior se terminó en 1936 con motivo de las IV olimpiadas nacionales, y se le dio el nombre de Fernando Londoño Londoño.

En 1992 se inicia la demolición del estadio Fernando Londoño Londoño para construir uno más grande.

En 1994 se termina la construcción por la gestión del alcalde German Cardona Gutiérrez.

El nombre de este nuevo estadio fue otorgado debido a que en el sector un árbol muy grande.

La inauguración fue el 20 de julio de 1994, con el partido entre once caldas y cruzeiro de Brasil.

En 1996 se instaló el techo del estadio y la nueva iluminación.

Cuenta con 4 tribunas principales, norte, sur oriental y occidental.

Tiene 24 puertas pequeñas y una puerta maratón.

Tiene 2 pantallas gigantes una en el sector sur y la otra en el sector norte.

•  Canchas de tenis: como lo pueden ver es un lugar muy agradable y con una bonita vista, allí se practica tenis de campo, un excelente deporte.

• Patinodromo: es un lugar amplio y muy colorido, en donde se reúnen niños, jóvenes y adultos, que les gusta el patinaje. Cuenta con una excelente pista, una cancha de squash en el centro y también tiene camerinos.

• Cancha de futbol Luis Fernando Montoya: es una cancha sintética. El nombre se otorgó para hacerle un homenaje al técnico que hizo campeón al once caldas en el 2004 de la copa libertadores de América.

• Canchas de microfútbol y baloncesto: diariamente se reúnen aquí los niños y jóvenes apasionados por estos deportes.

Este hermoso lugar deportivo cada día es más importante en la vida de los habitantes de Manizales.

La actividad económica de la unidad deportiva palogrande, la conforman los vendedores informales y las pequeñas tiendas.

El gobierno realiza periódicamente el mantenimiento general de este lugar, con el dinero que los ciudadanos pagamos en los impuestos.

• Es el más grande de la ciudad y por ello debemos cuidarlo.

PALOGRANDE SPORTSCENTER

The Palogrande sportscenter is the biggest sports place in Manizales, because we can find: the tennis and basketball courts; the skating rink, the coliseum, the stadium, and a gymnasium.

- The coliseum: it is a very popular place in the city where people can practice sport like professional basketball; besides, some cultural events can be carried out there

 - The stadium: is a very important place for Manizales city. As everybody can realize it is huge. This place has the  capacity for 35.000 people. Professional soccer is practised there.

The construction of the former stadium ended in 1936 on the occasion of IVth national Olympic Games and it was given the name of Fernando Londoño.

 In 1992 Fernando Londoño Londoño began  the demolition of the stadium to build a bigger one.

In 1994 the new construction ends by the management of the mayor German Cardona Gutiérrez.

The name of the new stadium was granted because a big  tree which  is around this place.

The opening was on July 20, 1994, with the match Once Caldas and Cruzeiro from Brazil.

In 1996, the roof and the new lighting were installed

It is provided with 4 main stands: North, South, east  and west.

It has 24 small doors and a marathon door.

It has 2 huge screens, one in the south and other one in the north sector.

- Tennis courts: as everybody can see, it is a nice place and with a nice view. Tennis of field is practiced there.

• The skating rink: it is a wide and a colorful place, where children, young people and adults get together to practice roller skating. It is provided with one excellent squash court in the center and it also has locker rooms

• Luis Fernando Montoya Soccer field: is a synthetic field. the name was granted to pay  homage to the coach  who led Once Caldas to win the copa libertadores de América championship in 2004.
•  - Courts of microsoccer and basketball: children and young people who are excited at these sports get together every day in these places

This beautiful sports place is very  important in the life of Manizales inhabitants every day.

The economic activity of the Palogrande sportscenter, consists of  informal sellers and the small shops.

Periodically, The government realizes the general maintenance of this place, with money of the citizens who pay taxes.
