Esclavitud infantil en Haiti

UNA FORMA DE ESCLAVITUD INFANTIL PERDURA; UNA CRUEL REALIDAD DEL SIGLO XXI EN HAITI

RESUMEN

HAITI es un país donde abarca más de 250.000 niños que han sido esclavizados por familias sin escrúpulos. Los nuevos esclavos se han catalogado entre los 7 y 14 años de edad con la condición de recibir alimentación, educación y bienestar en una familia ajena a ellos, pero que en realidad ninguna de estas propuestas se plasma en sus vidas.  LOS RESTAVEK, que significa “estar con”: quedarse con la familia que los esclaviza, se quedan con los golpes, las humillaciones y los malos tratos, familias que pueden traficar con los niños impunemente. Pero no se quedan para siempre, porque cuando llegan a su mayoría de edad los tiran a la calle o si se enferman no sirven para nada o lo remplazan por otro como si fueran animales de trabajo, las calles están pobladas de niños sin futuro.  El fenómeno de RESTAVEK es una forma de esclavitud moderna; hoy 1 de cada 10 niños haitianos es explotado bajo este sistema y su práctica generalizada ubica a Haití en el segundo puesto del listado de esta medición global de esclavitud moderna, intentar entender la razón de ser del fenómeno RESTAVEK implica toparse con muchas de las problemáticas que mantiene a Haití como el país más pobre del continente. Dentro de ambas familias implicadas (la familia que entrega a sus hijos, y la familia que los recibe) se conserva los síntomas de pobreza extrema, la desigualdad de oportunidades y la ausencia de políticas de protección a los niños entre otros.

ABSTRACT

HAITI is a country where covers more than 250,000 children who have been enslaved by unscrupulousfamilies. The new slaves have catalogued between 7 and 14 years of age with the condition to receivefood, education, and welfare in a family that is alien to them, but that in reality any of these proposalstranslates into their lives. THE RESTAVEK, which means, "be with": stay with the family that enslavesthem, stay with the shock, humiliation and ill-treatment, families who may be dealing with children with impunity. But they are not forever, because when they come to adulthood pull them out or ifthey get sick they are good for nothing or they replace it with another as if they were work animals, streets are populated with children without a future. The phenomenon of  RESTAVEK is a form ofmodern slavery; Today, 1 in 10 Haitian children is exploited under this system and its widespreadpractice located at Haiti in second place of the list of this global measurement of modern-day slavery, trying to understand the raison d ' être of the RESTAVEK phenomenon means to encounter many of the problems that keeps thecontinent poorer Haiti as the country. Within both families involved (thefamily that gives their children) and family who receives them preserves the symptoms of poverty, unequal opportunities and the absence of protection policies children among others.
