DEAR PARTICIPANTS,
AS THE WORLD SCIENCE FORUM 2013 APPROACHES, WE WOULD LIKE TO REMIND YOU OF SOME LOGISTIC DETAILS REGARDING YOUR PARTICIPATION:
1. TRANSFERS FROM/TO THE AIRPORTS
TRANSFER FROM AND TO THE AIRPORT WILL BE PROVIDED TO ALL APRTICIPANTS THAT INFORM THE ORGANIZERS THEIR ARRIVAL/DEPARTURE INFORMATION BY NOVEMBER 20TH.
TRANSFERS WILL BE AVAILABLE FROM NOVEMBER 23RD UNTIL NOVEMBER 28TH. PARTICIPANTS ARRIVING BEFORE NOV. 23RD OR LEAVING AFTER NOV 28TH SHOULD MAKE THEIR OWN ARRANGEMENTS TO REACH THE HOTEL/AIRPORT.
2. ACCOMMODATION
AS INFORMED PREVIOUSLY, ACCOMMODATION WILL BE COVERED FOR A PERIOD OF 4 NIGHTS, STARTING FROM NOVEMBER 23RD. PARTICIPANTS SHOULD CONTACT THE HOTEL DIRECTLY TO BOOK ONLY THE EXTRA NIGHTS. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE ORGANIZERS CANNOT BOOK EXTRA NIGHTS FOR PARTICIPANTS AS THE HOTEL WILL REQUIRE PERSONAL INFORMATION FROM THE PARTICIPANT.
IF YOU WISH TO STAY IN A HOTEL OTHER THAN THE ONE ASSIGNED FOR YOU FOR THE EXTRA NIGHTS WE ARE ATTACHING SOME SUGGESTED HOTELS IN THE COPACABANA AREA THAT HAVE PROVIDED US WITH SPECIAL RATES FOR THE WSF.
3. SHUTTLE
from november 25th until november 27th A shuttle service will be provided for participants identified with their badges. The shuttle will circulate daily, through the main streets of Copacabana area. A map with the route / timetable will be provided to all participants.
4. REGISTRATION
Registration will be opened from 24th November at 12:30h on the 2nd floor of the Windsor Atlantica Hotel. Please collect your badge and your conference material, as well as invitation for the Opening Ceremony that will take place on the 24th November at the Municipal Theater of Rio de Janeiro.
The badge is your identification throughout the period of the Forum. Please wear it at all times. It will be your pass to attend all events, as well as to use the shuttle services. Accompanying persons are also requested to register and collect their badges.
5. Social events and cultural presentation
A series of social events and cultural presentations have been programmed to take place during the World Science Forum. Invitation is extended to all participants and accompanying person. For further information, please visit the www.sciforum.hu.
November 24th:
“Companhia Bachiana Brasileira” presenting Bachiana #5 from the Brazilian composer, Heitor Villa Lobos.
November 25th:
“Grupo Cultural AfroReggae” presenting folk Brazilian music and Capoeira presentation.
November 26th:
“Escola de Samba” - percussion and folk dance presentation from Brazilian Samba School.
6. WEATHER
In Rio de Janeiro there is the predominance of tropical climate, hot and humid. The average annual temperature is 22 ° C. In November, the temperature varies from a minimum of 25 C to a maximum of 32 C. The rains in this time are sparse. It is common to have sunny days, but not with the intense heat of the summer
7. INTERNET CONNECTIONS/COMPUTERS
Free WiFi access to participants in the common areas of the meeting will be provided. Computers with internet access will be available for participants during the Forum.
8. CURRENCY
The unit of money in Brazil is the Real (BRL). The national currency consists of bills ranging from R$2, R$5, R$10, R$20, R$50 and R$100. Coins are also available in varied colors and sizes, with value ranging from 1 cent, 5 cents, 10 cents, 25 cents, 50 cents and 1 Real. Images of Brazilian animals illustrates one side of the bill, being the other side illustrated by a female character, which represents the Republic.
