Ensuring Equitable Access to Education in Finland

According to the Finnish National Agency for Education, It is not under educational problems as other nations, however, something that could be done by the State Finland would be to promote such programs worldwide as well as correct some of the little screams within the Finnish education system.

Human rights education is an integral part of the right to education and is gaining increasing recognition as a human right in itself (UNESCO). Lack of education today remains a global issue that must be attacked and counteracted to improve the quality of life of young people and that they have better job opportunities in the future.

The government of Finland has as its main educational objective to offer all citizens the same opportunities to receive education that, together with the structure of the system implemented, encourages and promotes the progression towards higher levels of education. This focus is on learning rather than testing, this means that there are no national exams for basic education students and those responsible for the evaluation of the students are the teachers of their respective subjects according to the objectives of the Curriculum. Basic education is fully funded by the state, as well as school meals and transportation, in upper secondary education, students only have to pay for their books and transportation. In addition, there are systems of subsidies and loans for studies, especially for higher education (Finnish National Agency for Education). Allowing even the poorest people to have access to quality education and to make progress in their lives.

Governance has been based on the principle of decentralization since the early 1990s, which is why education providers are responsible for the practical arrangements for teaching, effectiveness and quality of the education they provide. As well as the administration of the granted budget, acquisitions and recruitment of personnel. In other words, they are a sovereign entity.

One of the IGOs in which Finland is a part is the OECD in which it is part of the new series of educational policy perspectives that are planned to be implemented in most of the member countries of this organization. And thanks to globalization these new programs can be implemented more easily in any part of the world and you can also make feedbacks to the OECD so that with new trends and educational, labour and technological needs, you can continue to develop, compare and update these perspectives and programs for the benefit of the majority.
