INTERPRETING SHORT TEXTS

According to the Competence and to the Learning outcome, the apprentices will be able to produce short texts English in oral and writing form by using basic grammar rules. In this guide the apprentices will learn vocabulary and common expression in order to use greetings and farewells according to any moment of the day.

Another important activity to carry out is to comprehend and interpret short texts in English by using technical vocabulary. Most of the activity is based in audios or videos with the aim that learners can practice listening, speaking, reading and writing.

Finally, the last activity is to read about Coca-cola and at the end each apprentice will give a short oral report.

  1. Actividades de Reflexión inicial. 

In this activity You have to carry out the following steps in order to develop a very good activity:

  1. Read and understand the conversation in the given example.
  2. Identify greetings, polite expressions and farewells.
  3. Make a list a different formal and informal greetings and farewells in English that You know.
  4. Based on the example and on the list of greetings and farewells, write your own conversation but taking into account your own workshop or learning environment.
  5. Identify all the personal and possessive pronoun from the reading.

DIALOGUE

JHON:  Good afternoon instructor. How are You?

INSTRUCTOR: Good afternoon Jhon. I’m fine. Thank You. What about You?

JHON: I’m fine thanks. I’m ready to work very hard in your class.

INSTRUCTOR: That’s ok because at the end of the session You have to show a product.

JHON:  Very well!  I like sessions where I can apply what I learn. Dear Instructor, Could You please send me the guide of the activity to my e- mail? 

INSTRUCTOR: Of course!  Give me a minute. I’m attaching it in order to send it to very one.

JHON:  Thanks instructor, meanwhile I need a favor. May I go out to make a call? My friend was sick yesterday and I would like to know about him.

INSTRUCTOR: Yes, Go ahead. No problem. But just five minutes because in this moment your guide is in your e-mail.

JHON: Ok. Teacher. Thanks. I just come back!

(Jhon comes back and takes a seat in the classroom)

INSTRUCTOR: Jhon, download your guide and if there is a question Please tell me.

JHON: I’m reading the guide. It is very long I don’t think that we finish at the end of the day.

INSTRUCTOR: Yes, You will be able. Don’t lose time. Start already.

JHON: Mmmm. Ok

( at 5:30 pm)

INSTRUCTOR: Dear apprentices no more time. In this moment You have to send your evidences through your LMS.  Tonight I will review and I’ll give You your marks. Tomorrow,  You can review your grades.

JHON: Please! Teacher. Can You give me 10 minutes more? I’m ending the last activity.

INSTRUCTOR: Mmmmm. Yes Jhon. You have time until 6:00 o’clock After that the platform won’t allow more sends.

JHON: Thank You very much dear Instructor.

INSTRUCTOR: Ok. Dear apprentices I have to go out. See You tomorrow. Have a nice night. Please Jhon, Close the door of the workshop when everybody go out.

JHON: Ok. Teacher no problem. See You tomorrow.

CLASS: Good bye! Instructor. See You…

INSTRUCTOR: Good bye dears. Thanks for coming in.
