Thomas Larson, engineer for 22 years at the University of Washington, has developed a lens that fits a "smartphone" or Tablet camera into a microscope. To help realize this invention on a massive scale has started a Kickstarter campaign to collect funds.

Is called «Micro Phone Lens» and as described on Kickstarter «converts to almost any mobile phone into a powerful microscope». The tiny lens of about 6mm in diameter offers the image base of 15 X higher and a maximum of 60 X magnification using the zoom mobile. Its creator recommends it for cameras having from 5 MP.
