Studying language is important to know how the communication process is made and the relevance that it has as the way in which we can manipulate it.Language also reflects the identity of each human being, most exactly, it reflects the society identity. It can also change people’s everyday life, in the sense that it can be used for new technologies.Human language is a big complex process, because it involves how the human being acquires it, the interactions and possibilities to improve it.

People have a few beliefs about language; some of them are supported by specialists that make scientific research of language (linguists). Developing one of those points, language is systematic, in consequence it has rules.Although language is systematic, this feature is hard to see because it is arbitrary at the same time. Analyzing, there is a variation on language at every level of structure, from person to person, area to area, situation to situation.

Languages have universal properties. These characteristics are shared by all languages. It has properties, and they are arbitrary, in the sense that they cannot be predicted from other properties.In communication, we have two different kinds: writing and speech, also with dissimilar functions.Writing language exist after spoken Language. This kind of communication is not related. Some Spoken Language doesn’t have a written system for instance.Spoken Language is different because it is spontaneous and simultaneous instead of writing system, which is product of deliberation, and it has to be perfect, understandable.

Defining, the linguistic performance is the way in which the speaker uses their speech.Linguistic competence is the “hidden knowledge” of their speech. It resides in your mind.The form (the way in which we organize a group of sounds) and the meaning (the representation) are called linguistic sign.The connection between form and meaning is arbitrary because language is an agreement.

Phonetics is the study of speech sounds. This process happens when the speaker encodes the meaning sound and emits it through the air, and the hearer perceives it, translating it back into ameaning.Three aspects that are relevant to study are articulatory phonetics, acoustic phonetics, and auditory phonetics.One thing that is interesting to study is which sounds are possible in speech.We should know that there is nota correct way to transcribe phonetics. It is arbitrary, influenced by topography or historical consideration.

Phonetics is the study of sounds. To understand the mechanics of human languages one has to understand the physiology of the human body. Letters represent sounds in a rather intricate way. This has advantages and disadvantages. To represent sounds by letters in an accurate and uniform way the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) was created.

Each symbol represents one sound only although some letters does not follow this principle.In other words, we have consonant letters and consonant sound.A consonant letter usually represents one consonant sound.
