Essay U.S Constitution: Article 3 – Section 3 Treason

The treason is a very complex concept, because the constitution only talks about the treason as an act against the nation, but what if the treason is in case that the government or any legal body is acting against the right of the person, and this one wants to protect himself and his or her family going to other country looking for protection, maybe the government can take actions against the person because they take it as treason for the reason that he or her went to another country for help, but maybe they interpret this as a threat because maybe he or her can give important information and this one can affect the nation, of course all this as a supposition.

Or in other case people of the government can give confidential information about operations of the government to gain a personal benefit, obviously this is treason but what if the person is doing this as an order, so in that way the country can get the benefit as an establishment of peace with an enemy country.

As another point of view of my opinion, I found an article about Edward Snowden an ex-contractor of the National Security Agency and a spying program used to recollect information from e-mails, and telephone numbers, to found any reference about any terrorist threat, the problem here is that without any warrant, this information it is being spied, maybe this information help them to knew that Al Kaeda was preparing an attack against the embassy in Yemen, but the problem is all the information that is copied and scanning, because almost all the information is personal and confidential. The author of the article ask if Snowden is a traitor, according with Obama, he just said that Snowden was not a patriot. Snowden is for a lot a people a traitor but or just a “whistleblower”, also said that he got a temporary asylum in Russia.

According with this article and my opinion, the treason is applied when one is accused of treason is needed to make a whole analysis of the situation and see if the act was committed for a benefit reason of as an act of protection for the person. Because I think that an act like the one that Snowden commit is one the biggest treasons of all, for copied personal information of all the citizens of the United States in this case.

My conclusion is that treason how I said in the beginning of this essay, is a very complex concept, because how I saw in the article the treason is committed when a person of any government body act against the rights of the citizens in this case was the stole of personal information all this without any order, and even if is order by the president this must be qualified as treason, to finish I think that the constitution must be modified to be more clear about this kind of acts and under what situations is applied.
