CHILDREN AND FAST FOOD

Mr. President of a fast food chain;

This letter is to complain about fast food for kids. The point of view is that fast food produce develop children obesity. Childhood obesity can have complications for the physical, social, emotional and economic. Physical complications like Diabetes, high pressure and high blood pressure, asthma another breathing problems, sleep disorders, early puberty or menstruation. Social and emotional complications as low self-esteem and bulling, behavior and learning problems and depression and finally, economic problems like the increase of health insurance, increase the cost for hospital where children stay looking for treatment and the cost to pay for doctors and nurses too.

We can borrow ideas from the learning theories and Skinner who examined the effects of reinforcement in his theory of operating conditioning. Children fast food means high fast food for children, that is not healthy food but it is not important for children because the fast food restaurant give them a gift like a toy for reinforced the children behavior, as soon children love to eat fast food not only because they are hungry, they want the toy also them they rejected the healthy food because they don’t receive a reward when they eat that kind of food. The reward is the fast food. Parents don’t have be concert for children when they eat fast food, they don’t have to force their kid eat broccoli or carrots, children eat fast food very happy. Otherwise when children chance the kind of food, parents or babysitter have problem when they feed children. Parents prefer don’t have more problems with kids when they eat, they have many time problems in the school or house they don’t want to do the homework, they have problems with their classmates, they don’t want to shower, they don’t want to wake up or more problems. Babysitter looking for the fast way to feed children, they don’t care for kid’s health.

We know that a child who eats fast food soon became an obese child. The environmental has an important influence in the child develop. We try to explain it using the system theory when children can be examined as a product of the interaction of complex system. Poor families which eat fast food have more children than they can support. There are many Fast food near their house always, mother who buy fast food most of the time don’t have time to cook healthy food in their house, they have to feed their children fast because they have to go to their jobs. Fast food is many times inexpensive food in contrast to healthy which need more time to cook and they have to force kids to eat. They don’t have money for a babysitter and parents have to leave children home alone watching TV, they don’t practice sport use the excessive energy received by the fast food to became
