This thing that we are reading tells the story of how Pedro de Alvarado came to Guatemala and conquer our country, in the reading tells how in a letter from Pedro de Alvarado to Hernando Cortez. This is the story of how the conquer of Guatemala was from the other side of the conquers. It starts when Cortez finished conquering Mexico, Pedro de Alvarado wants to conquer Guatemala.

He enters from now day Huehuetenango and finds its way through a thick wooded cacao plantation, and when they have finally passed the cacao plantations they ran into houses they struck the people down and continued the chase into a market. They storm the market and kill everyone, the conquers tried to go forward but they couldn’t so they camp at the market. At the end of that time they went into another town (Quetzaltenango) the pass was rough but hey made it, but they find a woman and a dog sacrificed, then three or four thousand men but they defeated them.

While the conquerors were in high lands they saw more than 30 thousand men coming for them, and again they´ve managed to defeat them. When they finished they camped by a spring but many Mayan warriors came, and battled the conquerors the chiefs of Utatlán was killed, who came as the captain general of the whole country.

On 7 Ajmaq the dispersal occurred. Then the town of Iximché was abandoned; because of the demon-warrior the lords then left. There was no war in Tonetiuh´s heart; he was happy because precious metal being given. However Tonetiuh missed the lords. So ten days after we dispersed from the town, the war was begun by Tonetiuh. [August 14, 1530] In this year it is frightful how much tribute was paid. Tribute in precious metal was given again to Tonetiuh. Tribute was made by four hundred men, four hundred women who went to wash metal. Another four hundred men and four hundred woman were given as a tribute as well. And that’s how the invasion in Guatemala was.
