INTRODUCTION
Nursing, since its inception, has been accompanied by a symbolism that characterizes it and that has a relevant meaning in its development as a profession. At present, despite the existence of standards and the effort that has been made, changes and incorrect use of the uniform are frequently observed. The essential elements are exposed for the correct use of this clothing and for the good appearance as nursing technicians in the care services. A properly dressed nursing technician inspires confidence and is socially respected.
Nursing technician
Nursing has been developing the content of its work through history, as Medicine and other professions have done. That is why the history of nursing can today give reasons for this evolution, which has become irreversible, to become a profession without losing the originality of its essence: care.
Nursing, since its inception, has been accompanied by its own symbolism, with a relevant meaning that allows interpreting and understanding it.
The ascendancy of religion over nursing has been important, has influenced the training of nurses and conferred care for the presence of attitudes and values (spiritual and religious) for a long time. In the principles and practices of Modern Nursing developed by Florence Nightingale, there are present aspects that derive from this ideology, part of the dress of the nurses, they are very similar to the habits of the nuns.
Currently, this issue is controversial because of the diverse opinions that arise around it, especially due to the improper use and modifications that are being made to the uniform.
The uniform according to the Dictionary of the Spanish Language, is a peculiar and distinctive dress worn by individuals belonging to the same body, to the same school and having the same form.
There are some characteristics and attributes in the uniform of the nursing technician, which distinguishes him from the rest of the health professionals, such as:
White uniform: Symbol of self-care, cleanliness, purity and support in front of the other (person and family in interaction and transparent contact, sincere and respectful with their body, their feelings and life experiences: growth, health, illness and death).
GENERAL DISPOSITION THAT REGULATES THE USE OF THIS DRESS AND THE PERSONAL APPEARANCE OF THE NURSING STAFF
With well-charged schedules and repetitive movements and fast throughout the workday, the lives of nursing technicians need certain comfort at the level of clothing.
For this, a nurse technician must govern their dress and appearance by the following rules:
Women
- Use the regulated fabric uniform, soft and easy to wash.
- When it comes to dress or skirt, must, have the length at the knee and wear long socks. The width of the dress, jacket and trousers, should allow movements with ease and without impediments.
- Socks color skin.
- Coats only white, black or blue.
- Wear short or gathered hair.
- Have short nails with discrete paint.
- Use clock with secondary.
- Avoid the use of garments not required during the development of their work (headscarves, necklaces, earrings or other).
- Discreet makeup.
- Keep the shoes clean.
Mens
- Wear the regulatory uniform, clean and loose.
- White socks.
- White strap.
- Keep hair short and beard shaved.
- Have short nails.
- Use clock with secondary.
- Keep the shoes clean.
Nursing technicians should wear shoes with rubber soles, non-slip and comfortable for light and silent movements.
By hygienic conditions and personal appearance of the profession it entails certain prohibitions that are detailed below:
- Necklaces, piercings, bracelets and anklets.
- Visible tattoos.
- Pants, shorts, fishermen, jeans.
- Elastic or transparent fabrics.
- Dolls or decorative ornaments on the uniform.
- Acrylic nails.
- Provocative underwear.
- Shoes without socks.

Conclusion
It can be concluded that the proposed aspects allow reassessing the importance of the correct use of the uniform, as an essential element, among others, for a good social image of nursing technicians.
