Cory Allan Michael Monteith1 (Calgary, Alberta, 11 de mayo de 1982 — Vancouver, Columbia Británica, 13 de julio de 2013)2 fue un actor y músico canadiense, conocido por su papel de Finn Hudson en la serie de televisión Glee.

Primeros años

Monteith nació en Calgary, Alberta, y se crio en Victoria, Columbia Británica. Tenía un hermano mayor, Shaun. Sus padres se divorciaron cuando él tenía siete años, y fue criado por su madre, Ann McGregor, una decoradora de interiores (su padre era militar). Vida personal

Monteith sostuvo hasta su muerte una relación amorosa con su colega de la serie Glee, la actriz estadounidense Lea Michele.3 El 31 de marzo de 2013, entró por su propia cuenta en una clínica de rehabilitación para tratar su adicción a sustancias. Monteith ya había recurrido a un centro de ayuda a los 19 años. Culminó su tratamiento el 26 de abril de 2013.4

Fallecimiento

El 13 de julio de 2013, el actor fue hallado sin vida en su habitación del hotel Fairmont Pacific Rim5 en Vancouver, Canadá.2 Monteith tenía programado pagar la factura del hotel temprano ese mismo día, pero cuando no asistió, el personal del hotel entró a su habitación y descubrió su cuerpo.6 El Departamento de Policía de Vancouver declaró que la causa de muerte no era evidente, pero que se descartaba la posibilidad de que hubiera habido un crimen.7 La autopsia se realizó el 15 de julio de 2013. 8 El 16 de julio de 2013 se confirmó que la muerte del actor se debió a una sobredosis de alcohol y heroína.9

Cory Allan Michael Monteith (May 11, 1982 – July 13, 2013) was a Canadian actor and musician, known for his role as Finn Hudson on the Foxtelevision series Glee. Born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and raised in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, Monteith had a troubled adolescence involving substance abuse from age 12, and he left school at 16. After an intervention by family and friends, he entered drug rehabilitation at age 19, and began rebuilding his life.

As an actor based in Vancouver, he had minor roles on such television series as Stargate Atlantis and Smallville before an audition tape of him singing "Can't Fight This Feeling" helped to land him the biggest role of his career, Finn on Glee. This introduced him to an international audience as a high school quarterback who is at first reluctant to join the high school singing club. In later seasons, the character had graduated but returned as a singing coach. Following his success on Glee, Monteith's film work included the movie Monte Carlo and a starring role in Sisters & Brothers. In an interview with Parade magazine in 2011, he discussed his history of substance abuse as a teen, and in March 2013, he again sought treatment for addiction. In July 2013, he died of a toxic combination of heroin and alcohol in a Vancouver hotel room.

Early life

Monteith was born in Calgary, Alberta, on May 11, 1982,[ the younger son of Ann McGregor, an interior decorator, and Joe Monteith, a military man who served in the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry. He had an older brother named Shaun. Monteith's parents divorced when he was seven years old,] and he and his older brother were raised by their mother in Victoria, British Columbia. After the divorce he saw little of his father due to Joe Monteith's military service, and he had social difficulties at school. After attending 16 schools,] including alternative programs for troubled teens, he dropped out altogether at age 16.
